Backup and Recovery Overview

This document explains the backup and recovery philosophy used within SkyCloud infrastructure operations.

Backup Philosophy

Recoverability is considered a core operational requirement, not an optional feature.

Operational Backup Standards

• Critical systems should be backed up routinely
• Backups should be validated periodically
• Production changes require verified backups first
• Backup repositories should remain accessible

Recovery Expectations

• Service restoration takes priority during outages
• Rollback capability should exist before major changes
• Critical infrastructure should remain recoverable
• Recovery procedures should remain operationally realistic

Operational Expectations

Backups are only operationally valuable if restoration procedures are practical and tested.
